Martin "Rickey" Reese Haughton, aged 66, a resident of Mantachie, journeyed peacefully to eternity on August 23, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. His memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Born on June 19, 1957, in Georgia to Richard and Nancy Avery Haughton, Martin's life was a canvas of shared moments, cherished relationships, and the pursuit of his passions. His spirit now finds rest as he joins his loved ones who have gone before him.
Martin is survived by his devoted sister, Rebecca "Becky" Benton (Scott) of Amory, MS, and his caring brother, James "Don" Haughton of Lebanon, TN. The bond he shared with them was a testament to the deep connection of family.
His legacy continues through his nieces Tina Benton, Kayla Richie, Nicole Benton, and nephews Eric Richey (Shelly), Greg Cornelius, and David Cornelius. Additionally, his great nephews Joseph, Noah, and Nigal will carry forward the warmth and wisdom he shared.
Preceding him in passing were his grandparents, James "Red" Haughton and Lockie Robertson Haughton of Amory, his sisters Janice Cornelius of Jasper, AL, and Kay Richie, along with brother-in-law Bobbie Richie. Their memories will live on as a part of Martin's story.
A member of North Blvd. Christian Church in Amory, Martin found solace and strength in his faith. He was a man of many talents and interests. His passion for drawing, painting, and art allowed him to express his inner creativity. His love extended to the feline companions he cherished, with a special fondness for Simon. Martin's compassionate heart shone through his role as a dedicated caregiver to friends with disabilities, a role he embraced until his retirement.
Embracing the serenity of country living, Martin found joy in his surroundings. His fondest moments were those spent in the company of his family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all who shared them.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
Though Martin "Rickey" Reese Haughton's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and memories he gifted to all who knew him. His legacy will forever be etched in the tapestry of the lives he touched
