Doris Ann (Peace) Pearl

Doris Ann Peace Pearl, age 83, of Highland, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. Doris was born on September 11, 1941, in Mississippi to Rev. Oscar Peace and Eliza Claxton Peace. A dedicated educator and compassionate leader, Doris leaves a legacy of love, knowledge, and strength.

Doris pursued her passion for education with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Tougaloo College, later earning a master’s degree in Education from Delta State University. She spent her career devoted to the students and staff at Emerson High School in Gary, Indiana, retiring as Assistant Principal. Known for her warmth and dedication, Doris was a guiding light to her colleagues and students alike.

Doris was an active member of St. Timothy Methodist Church in Gary and proudly part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She cherished the simple pleasures in life, especially her love for reading, which she enjoyed throughout her life.

Doris is survived by her son, Mark C. Pearl, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Oscar Peace and Eliza Claxton Peace.
