Daniel “Danny” Cruthirds, 59, of Collins, Georgia, passed away on April 25, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Mr. Cruthirds became ill while working in Mississippi, where he was dedicated to disaster cleanup efforts through his work.
Danny was born on October 21, 1966, to the late Dalton and Flossie Battles Cruthirds. A hardworking and dependable man, he built a life centered around his family, his work, and the outdoors he loved so much.
He was employed as an Operations Manager with Debris Tech and had previously worked for 20 years as a roofer with Independent Roofing. Known for his strong work ethic, Danny took pride in every job he undertook. His coworkers affectionately knew him as “Uncle Danny,” a reflection of the warmth and camaraderie he shared with those around him.
Danny was of the Baptist faith and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved being outdoors, whether honing his survival skills, kayaking, or fishing. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Nina Ward Cruthirds; his daughter, Danielle Cruthirds; his son, Dalton Cruthirds (Tori); his sister, Audrey Ulmer (George); his grandchildren, Daniel and Aubrey Cruthirds; his sisters-in-law, Hope Johnson (Shane) and Kristia Rhodes (Larry); his brothers-in-law, Ron Maxcey (Rosie) and Frankie Maxcey; his adopted grandchildren, Haiden DeLoach and Hadleigh Patrick; his friend, Brandon Franklin, whom he referred to as his “little buddy”; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Tommy Cruthirds, Ronnie Cruthirds, Sr., and Billy Cruthirds; and his sisters, Debbie Cruthirds and Jeannie Donald.
A memorial service will be held on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Old Sharon School 4364 Sharon Road Laurel, MS 39443.
